Just got our weekly phone call from our supervisor (he said he'll phone again at the end of the week as well) for an update on where everything is at.
The walkabout painter has finally arrived! Our supervisor had 2 other painters lined up but then turned up on site and the walkabout guy is there! Hope he does a good job! He is on site and works alone but will probably take 10 working days to get it done. Apparently he's working through and having time off later in January so the house should be ready to go for fit off as of 10th of January when the trades come back to work. This could work in our favour if we want to get in next week to show the family through because if the painter is there we can get in!
The supervisor is booking in fit off now for the week of the 10th.
He thinks early February now (maybe week of 7th Jan) for handover so that's pushed things out a bit but we'll see how it goes I guess. We're locked out and no go with getting a key but he's back at work from the 4th if we want to get in and measure up anything then.
The carpenter is also on site this week finishing the skirting's in the garage where he was short as well as a couple of other little things.
The tiles that need fixing have been ordered but that wont get fixed till the new year now, should I authorise fixing payment without this done?
He said he just gave the builder at the back a mouthful because he caught him using our bin! He swore at him and told him to get his own bin, the guy claimed it was rubbish from on top of our wall but that's a lie because there was no rubbish on our retaining wall. Then our supervisor also yelled at him because we've copped all his dirt! Wished I'd been there to see that argument! That would have been funny to see!
I asked how the mud at the back was going and he said they got 80mm of rain out there yesterday so there is a lot of mess but its not coming in the house or causing any major damage. He is going to go out there tomorrow with some big gumboots and a shovel and try and divert some of the water away from the house so that's nice of him and saves us a job!
We're going for a look after work today so I might have some pic's tomorrow!
