I have no idea why the builders pay someone to clean the house upon completion because they do a terrible job! I spent 7 hours on Saturday busting my back to clean the house from top to bottom then had to do a few more hours on Sunday and its still not 100% finished! Dec filled a skip with all the builders rubbish that was left on our site and now the place is starting to look livable!
Due to a death in the family and a funeral on Friday interstate we wont be completely moving in this weekend. Carpet will still go in on Friday and furniture will still be delivered but we'll probably only move the stuff from my parents this weekend now and do the rest the following weekend, which will still get us in by Easter!
So for those out there who have already moved in, what did you use to get all the dust/grout off your new tiles? Does anyone own/recommend a steam mop for matte finish tiles? I'm trying to decide if I should buy one? The tiler is going to go back tomorrow and leave us some tile and grout cleaner to use every 6 months and his recommendation is metho and hot water.
Oh and who knows how to gently remove skirting's? lol! Our fridge got delivered today and stupid me didn't measure and allow for the skirting's so width wise it doesn't fit, now we need to take the skirting's off the inside of the hole to get the fridge to fit! Luckily the depth is OK so the doors wont have any problems opening etc! (I hope!)
hey there - have been enjoying reading up on your build experience. really love the photos. for removing your skirting, i wonder if you could tap a thin crowbar type tool behind it and just lightly leverage it off the wall to remove it?

What size is your window in your rumpus? We have a couple of windows that are 600mm drop, and 1200mm wide, were contemplating not putting any window coverings on them because they are high/narrow..did you think about this or just plan to put blinds on them all along?

ReplyDeleteThe rumpus window is 600 high and 2700 long but id always planned putting blinds on them anyway. We have timber venetians and the colour is called 'wenge' its a very dark timber, almost black.

Hi Cassandra, those blinds look really good. we aren't building (Thank god lol),, we bought a newly completed home/turn key type so didn't have to go thru any of the build process (which is lucky, because my wife and I have hard enough time agreeing on blinds and little things let alone full colour schemes, styles and the like!!) Can't wait to move in down there :)
